Our Yearly Routine

Drumline competitions will begin in March.

The Sycamore Drumline generally travels to about 4 - 5 competitions each year. 
All competitions are held on weekends (mostly Saturdays but sometimes Sundays).

Try-outs will be in November / December and  rehearsals will begin in December / January.

Drumline is an after-school (extra-curricular) activity, much like a sports team.
Students are required to stay after school 2 - 3 days per week for 2 hour rehearsals.
It takes months to learn and memorize the music and movement for the show.

Sycamore Drumline Calendar


Band and Drumline students are required to
attend various rehearsals and performances
throughout the year.  It is important for each
student and their parents to keep a copy of
the band / drumline calendar so that they can
arrange their schedules appropriately and
be prepared for upcoming events.


















General Indoor Drumline Information

Any Sycamore student can try-out for the drumline
(even if you are not in a band class or if you do not know anything about music)

Try-outs are held in the Sycamore Band Room (room 46) after school.  The dates for
try-outs will be announced sometime in October or November.  The Dates and
times will be posted on the website and on the board in the Band Room.

All you need to do is show up, have a good attitude, and play some simple exercises
with percussion instruments.  If you have a good sense of rhythm and you are a
fast learner, you will probably do well.

New contracts and schedules will be handed out at the first meeting.  Be sure both
students and parents have read and signed the contract before you decide to join.

If you have any other questions, stop by room 46 and talk to Mr. Gordon.

News Update
The 2010 Drumline season is finished!  Congratulations to all Sycamore drumline members for a very successful season.

The 2010 Drumline finished the season in a tie for 2nd place, giving them a total of 2 first place and 2 second place finishes. great job guys!
